Measuring Young's modulus of wood Example1
Measuring Young's modulus of wood Example1
By measuring the sound of hammering wood with the VA-14 vibration analyzer and a microphone (with the VX-14S expansion program installed), Young's modulus can be calculated from the sound frequency and the volume and density of the wood.Young's modulus is an index that indicates the ease of deformation and rigidity of a material, and is used in structural analysis, strength calculations, eigenvalue analysis, etc. By setting the Young's modulus appropriately, it is possible to prevent the prediction of the deformation amount and stress distribution of the product from being too far from the actual behavior. The VA-14 (with the VX-14S expansion program installed) can directly connect the UC-59 microphone via the NH-22A preamplifier. It is lightweight (approximately 650g) and easy to handle, making it ideal for on-site measurements and analysis.
